Curly hair has its own magic — but also special needs! If you love your curls, you know: moisture is the secret to healthy bounce and radiant shine. But how do you keep the balance? Find out how to optimally hydrate your curls.
Moisture: the key to healthy curls
Did you know that curly hair is made up of about 80 percent water? That’s because of its unique structure. Unlike straight hair, curly hair consists of multiple layers that form into a spiral shape. This allows moisture to be deeply locked in and stored.
When curly hair lacks moisture, it becomes dry and frizz appears. That’s why it’s especially important to keep your hair well hydrated. How? With the following tips, it’s easy to give your hair the moisture it needs:
1. Use moisturizing shampoos and care products
Choose a shampoo and conditioner or leave-in designed specifically for curly hair. The products from Curls Control contain ingredients that lock in moisture and keep your hair hydrated. Be sure to avoid shampoos with sulfates, as they strip your hair’s natural oils.
2. Rely on leave-in products
A good leave-in conditioner is essential to provide your curls with extra hydration and help preserve it. Oils such as argan oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil are especially effective for protecting hair and maintaining its moisture balance. These are, of course, included in the right amounts in our products.
3. Do regular hair treatments
Once a month — or more often if needed — a hair mask is a true treat for your curls! With our Moisturizer, you deeply nourish your hair, fight frizz, and restore its moisture balance. This ensures your curls shine naturally!
4. Avoid blow-dryers and heat tools as much as possible
Blow-dryers, flat irons, and curling irons dry out your hair and strip away moisture. Let your hair air-dry whenever possible. If you must blow-dry, choose a low heat setting and always use a diffuser attachment.
5. Protect your hair from UV rays
UV rays are harmful to your hair because they dry out curls and damage the hair’s structure. When outdoors, wear a hat or use a leave-in conditioner with UV protection.
